Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is set to return to fullback for Penrith in a switch with out-of-sorts youngster Dylan Edwards for Friday's NRL clash with Gold Coast.
Edwards was moved to the wing mid-game after a mistake-riddled first half against the Wests Tigers last week, and trained there on Monday.
Watene-Zelezniak reclaims the role he played for most of last year, when he impressed enough to be handed the New Zealand captaincy.
"(Dallin) really enjoys fullback, he wants to be a fullback," Panthers five-eighth James Maloney said on Monday.
"He's got an opportunity now by the looks of it and he'll do a good job."
A week after committing six errors - two of which led directly to tries - in a humbling by Melbourne, Edwards struggled against the Tigers.
The 23-year-old turned the ball over three times inside the first half, prompting coach Ivan Cleary to push him to the wing just before halftime.
Edwards received a much-needed confidence boost when he scored in the 79th minute to set up the golden-point victory.
"I thought that was really fitting actually, really nice for him to be able to get over and score that winning try. That's a positive," Maloney said.
"It's just a bit of confidence. He can't go into his shell. Just play your way out of it and it'll come.
"He's one of the hardest workers I've ever seen around training. You can't do that and things not go right for you.
"Everyone goes in ups and downs and he'll come out of it and be even better for it."
Speaking after the match, Edwards admitted the difficulty in putting the disappointment of his mid-game axing behind him.
But he is determined to keep his spot in the 17, whether at fullback or on the wing.
"It is hard. I just feel like, so that's happened, I've let the team down not doing my role well enough," he said.
"That's the main thing for me.
"But then I come in at halftime and I was told I've still got a job to do there.
"I don't think (wing will) hinder (my confidence). I think it'll be a bit more simple and I'll just have a really narrow focus."
