A British engineer who developed a device that reduces the amount of water needed to wash your hands to a couple of tablespoons has won the Duke of York's Pitch@Palace initiative.
Wes Sugden-Brook said he was inspired to create the gadget after watching an online lecture about the earth's finite resources.
The idea further progressed while watering the garden with his wife and children when the hose started to mist.
"So I washed my hands with it and it worked. So I bought some components, re-engineered a crude device and we tested, what we call the volumiser, at home collected the water and that was the eureka moment," he said.
"We collected it and it was 50 millilitres of water in the jug, after washing my hands."
The Queen attended the start of the event which was founded by Prince Andrew the Duke of York as a way to connect start-ups and fledgling companies with potential investors and industry figures.
