Watson stars in Bangalore IPL loss

Shane Watson and Glenn Maxwell both hit quick-fire 30s in the Indian Premier League.

Shane Watson starred with bat and ball, but it wasn't enough to save Bangalore from their first loss of the Indian Premier League season.

Watson smashed three sixes in his 19-ball 33, before claiming the key Delhi Daredevils' wickets of Quinton de Kock (108 from 51) and Sanju Samson to finish with 2-25 from his four overs.

He also played a key part in the Royal Challengers' only other dismissal, catching Shreyas Iyer while trying to avoid the boundary rope, before offloading the ball to a teammate.

It wasn't enough though, as de Kock's century helped the Daredevils chase down the target of 192 with five balls and three wickets to spare.

Meanwhile Glenn Maxwell was back to his blasting best for Kings XI Punjab against Steve Smith's Rising Pune Supergiants.

Maxwell smashed two sixes and three fours to help the home side close out there chase, whacking an unbeaten 32 off just 14 balls, including 29 off the final nine balls he faced.

He also bowled one over with the ball, going for only three runs.

Fellow-Australian Shaun Marsh hit just four from six balls for Kings XI.

Their knocks came after Smith hit 38 from 26 balls before Mohit Sharma had him caught on the offside boundary.
