A woman has told of her terror at being on a train in west London when a homemade bomb exploded injuring 22 people.
Pictures taken at Parsons Green underground station showed a white bucket with a supermarket freezer bag on the floor of one train carriage, the bucket in flames with wires coming out of the top.
The woman, who wished to only be identified as Lauren, spoke of her fear at seeing a fireball rip through the carriage.
"It was this flame of orange coming towards you," she told reporters as she stood outside a wide police perimeter.
"We just panicked ... and we ran in the opposite direction."
She was also grateful the train had come to a stop, fearing the outcome could have been worse if the train had have been on the move with the doors locked.
"I am just so glad that it happened when the tube was stationary. Everyone would have been engulfed otherwise," she said.
While she gave an eyewitness account a 21-year-old Australian teacher told AAP he was lucky he was on a day off.
The man, who lives in nearby Fulham, spoke of his relief at not being at the station, where he usually would be at that time of morning.
"I catch the train there in the morning and come back at night," the man, who gave his name as Rob, told AAP.
"I feel incredibly lucky, it's one of those things that you think it's never going to happen, especially here.
"It's such a quiet area with a lot of families and local businesses and no real major tourist attractions.
"Still that train is usually quite busy, so I guess I'm not too surprised."
Having moved to London in February, Rob said the many incidents of terror in the UK - including truck and knife attacks at Westminster and London Bridge and the Manchester Arena bombing - would not deter him from exploring the city.
"It definitely makes you have more of a look around your surroundings to be aware of it," he said.
"It bothers me but it won't scare me off of going onto the tube and into more central areas."
