Two homes at Ingleburn and Minto, in southwest Sydney, were shot at on Wednesday afternoon.
A vehicle was damaged during the first incident, shortly after 1pm (AEST), while someone was at home when the second shooting occurred four hours later.

An hour before the first shooting incident, Mr Scipione spoke to AAP about gun and knife crime in western Sydney.
"What it tells you is we live in a violent world," he said on the sidelines of a police event at Huntingwood.
Operation Spartan was established by NSW Police in January after four gang-related shootings rocked Sydney's western and southern suburbs.
Extra resources were deployed from the police public order and riot squad, dog squad, gangs squad and the Middle Eastern organised crime squad, taking police numbers to 900.
Still, shootings have continued to occur, with Premier Barry O'Farrell recently arguing police were more interested in getting more powers than resources.
Mr Scipione said that while gun crime was a problem, other crimes involving a weapon were actually falling.
"Certainly in terms of assaults or robberies where a weapon's used, malicious damage to property, all of those crime rates are stable or falling. However, one event like that is one too many," he said.
"We need to continue to do all we can and we will continue to do all we can to make sure those people are put before a court but more importantly to stop the crime happening before it happens."
On Tuesday, a 30-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at Oxley Park, in Sydney's west, as he answered the door.
On Monday night, a 27-year-old man suffered minor injuries when a bullet nicked his neck as he answered the front door of his home at Merrylands.
