We lost respect say Roosters

Prop Kane Evans has conceded the Roosters have lost respect amongst their NRL rivals after their round one thumping at the hands of South Sydney.

An embarrassed Sydney Roosters continue to pick up the pieces from their round one thumping at the hands of South Sydney, with prop Kane Evans conceding his club has lost respect amongst their NRL rivals.

The Roosters labelled the 42-10 defeat by their arch-rivals as "below standard", "embarrassing" and "just not good enough" as a week of soul searching ensues at Bondi ahead of their round two clash with Canberra.

Forward Dylan Napa blamed a poor attitude for the heavy defeat.

"We just got blown out of the water and we couldn't recover, we couldn't get our game back on," he said on Tuesday.

"The platform that me and the other forwards laid was below standard.

"We started strong with a few sets but then conceded a few tries and couldn't recover ... there are no excuses."

Evans was even more forthright.

"It's been (a) pretty tough (couple of days). The way we played wasn't good enough and we are ready to go this week to return to the Roosters' style of play and get that respect back.

"We didn't play how we play as Roosters. It was embarrassing and we need to pick that up."

Recruit Dale Copley added: "It certainly wasn't a reflection of our pre-season."

The Roosters, who continue to be without Mitchell Pearce, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Boyd Cordner, face a Raiders side minus Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer in the nation's capital on Saturday afternoon.
