West Coast midfielder Chris Masten could miss the first month of the premiership season after suffering a left ankle sprain in the Eagles' intra-club match on Saturday.

The injury adds to West Coast's midfield woes with Jack Redden and Dom Sheed already on the injured list.

Masten, who was controversially suspended for biting after the second Western Derby of the 2015 season had enjoyed an uninterrupted pre-season up until now.

West Coast start their season proper with a home game against the Brisbane Lions on March 27.
