West Indies overpower Bangladesh in T20

The Duckworth-Lewis system has been used in the West Indies' win over Bangladesh in a rain-marred T20 match.

The West Indies cantered to a seven-wicket Duckworth-Lewis win against Bangladesh in a rain-affected T20 match.

Bangladesh, put into bat in Basseterre, got off to a rocky start when they lost Tamim Iqbal stumped to the first ball and Soumya Sarkar was bowled three balls later.

Liton Das (24) and Shakib Al Hasan (19) put on a partnership of 38 before falling to consecutive balls from Keemo Paul, while a handy 35 from 27 balls by Mahmudullah saw Bangladesh reach a below-par 9-143.

Rain reduced the chase to 11 overs, with the Chris Gayle-less Windies setting a target of 91.

Mustafizur Rahman took both openers in his first over, Andre Fletcher (7) nicking to the keeper and Evin Lewis (2) holing out to backward point.

But 18 runs in one over for man-of-the-match Andre Russell as part of a knock of 35 kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Rovman Powell smashed a six as the West Indies reached the target with 11 balls remaining.
