Whale spotted off southern Sydney coast

A southern right whale making its way to warmer waters has been spotted off Botany Bay, in southern Sydney.

A southern right whale has been spotted near Botany Bay in southern Sydney as it makes its annual winter migration to warmer waters.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service says it's working to determine if it's the same whale which delighted Sydneysiders as it frolicked off Balmoral for several days last year.

It's urged people in boats and swimmers to be extra careful while in shallow water off Sydney's coast, which is particularly popular with southern right wales.
