Despite early concerns about transport and security, the organisation of the London 2012 Games has been praised around the world.

The Olympic Park was completed on time and to budget, the military came to the rescue to cover safety and Team Great Britain experienced a 'breathtaking' gold rush.

British Prime Minister David Cameron says the Games were a great advert for London.

"I think the world will take a message that Britain is a great country with a great future, we're open for business,'" said Cameron. "Yes, economic times are difficult and tough, but actually, i think what the olympics demonsrate is that if you apply yourself enough, if you really want to get something done, you can do it."
