Leaked figures show the budget will deliver the largest reduction in expenditure, as a share of the economy, since 1987, Richard Davis reports.

Around $5 billion in savings are expected to come from Defence, and welfare payments will also be cut back.

But there will be new spending on dental care, the school kids bonus, and an extra $50 million will be spent to help children who live in disadvantaged areas.
