What you need to know about John Barilaro

The NSW Nationals are looking for a new leadership team, with Skills Minister John Barilaro likely to be elected deputy premier.

Skills Minister John Barilaro is the frontrunner for the NSW Nationals leadership after Troy Grant announced his resignation following the Orange by-election.

So who is the man likely to be NSW's next deputy premier?

- Born in the southern NSW town of Queanbeyan, son to Italian immigrants.

- Has held the seat of Monaro for 11 years, on a tiny margin of two per cent.

- Ran his family's windows and door manufacturing business before politics.

- Married with two daughters.

- Departing Deputy Premier Troy Grant is a family friend, and became Mr Barilaro's daughter's godfather earlier this year.

- Currently holds three portfolios including Regional Development, Skills and Small Business.
