What's on the program for parliament?

Federal parliament begins a fortnight-long sitting in Canberra on Monday with drought, national security and first speeches on the agenda.

WHAT'S ON IN FEDERAL PARLIAMENT?

* House and Senate sitting for a fortnight from July 22

* Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape is visiting Canberra on Monday

* Government wants to pass laws dealing with farm invaders, set up a drought future fund and temporarily ban dual-citizen foreign fighters from returning to Australia

* The Senate is seeking documents relating to Christopher Pyne and Julie Bishop's adherence to the ministerial standards, which are due by 10am on Monday

* Greens and Centre Alliance to introduce bills to start the process of World Heritage listing of the Great Australian Bight and banning mining in the region

* Greens to seek press freedom inquiry, broader than the intelligence committee inquiry set up last sittings

* First speeches on Tuesday by new senators Susan McDonald and Claire Chandler. Wednesday speeches by new senators Andrew Bragg and Raff Ciccone

* Wednesday first speech by Peta Murphy, Labor member for Dunkley who has cancer
