Whincup eyeing more Supercars glory

He's passed the century of race wins but Supercars star Jamie Whincup is far from done when it comes to his dominance of the championship.

Just as a batsman takes his guard when the celebrations die down, Jamie Whincup hopes his Supercars century is just one more chapter in his glorious career.

The Holden ace became just the second driver to secure 100 career wins with victory on Sunday at Sydney Motorsport Park.

But if his rivals think the Red Bull Racing star is ready to rest on his achievements, they're in for a nasty shock.

"I'd like to think it's a hundred not out," Whincup said.

"I think there's still a lot left in me."

Whincup's Sunday win and a second in Saturday's race at Sydney Motorsport Park means he leaves Sydney holding an increased 137-point championship lead over teammate Shane Van Gisbergen.

Next up for the Supercars field is the first endurance race of the year, the Sandown 500.

Whincup has a great record in the 500km event, having won it six times including two of the past three years.

More success there will further cement Whincup's legacy but the 33-year-old says his main motivation is simply a love of racing and winning.

"I'm not trying to tick boxes or do anything," Whincup said.

"It's probably a little bit selfish but I'm just out there for the fun of racing.

"Simple things. Just rubbing some panels, go around in circles as quick as you can and get to the finish line first.

"That's what drives me, not necessarily the numbers that tick away in the background."
