White House says report exonerates Trump

A White House spokeswoman says a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election is a "complete exoneration" of President Donald Trump.

US Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian interference in the 2016 election is a "complete exoneration" of President Donald Trump, a White House spokeswoman says.

Mueller, who spent nearly two years investigating claims Russia meddled in the 2016 election to help Trump defeat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, found no evidence any member of Trump's election campaign conspired with Russia during the election.

US Attorney General William Barr said after reviewing the findings of the Mueller report that the evidence "is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction-of-justice offence."
