White joins Adelaide Strikers in BBL

The Adelaide Strikers have signed Cameron White from BBL rivals Melbourne Renegades.

Cameron White has joined the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.

White, who last week was told by Cricket Victoria he won't be offered a fresh contract, has departed the Melbourne Renegades after helping them win the BBL title last season.

The Strikers' high performance manager Tim Nielsen says White, the fifth-highest BBL run-scorer, will add valuable experience to the Adelaide franchise.

"Cameron adds a considerable amount to our side not only with his ability but also his understanding of the game," Nielsen said in a statement on Friday.

"And he knows what it takes to be in a successful team.

"A cool head such as Cameron's will help lead our side immensely ... to have such a distinguished player of our game will only boost our side."

White is expected to captain the Strikers when regular skipper Travis Head is unavailable because of Australian commitments.

Last year's stand-in captain, South African Colin Ingram, won't be returning for the next BBL season.
