White powder found on Qantas plane in Vic

Australian Federal Police say a substance found at Melbourne Airport was a white powder.

A suspicious white powder has been removed from a Qantas plane at Melbourne Airport and the aircraft has been cleared for service.

Australian Federal Police say the powder was found in the cargo hold of an A330 during routine maintenance and police were called around 3.30am on Thursday.

The powder has been removed by for testing.

Qantas says its flights won't be affected by the incident.
