Former Victorian cricket captain Cameron White will play his first Sheffield Shield game in nearly a year.

After playing in the domestic one-dayers at the start of the summer, White was overlooked for the four-day team and until now had been unable to force his way back into the lineup.

The Bushrangers will resume their Shield season from Wednesday when they host Tasmania at the MCG.

The squad also features Australian pacemen James Pattinson and Peter Siddle, who will captain the team because Matthew Wade is on national one-day duties in New Zealand.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Harper and allrounder Ian Holland will make their first-class debuts if selected.
