Whitecross, Davis face AFL striking fines

The AFL match review panel has cleared Essendon's Brendon Goddard over an incident involving Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray.

Hawthorn's Brendan Whitecross and Greater Western Sydney's Phil Davis are set to escape with fines for AFL striking offences.

Whitecross can accept a $1000 sanction for striking Gold Coast star Gary Ablett, as can Davis for striking Carlton's Jed Lamb.

No other charges were laid from the first six games of the round, with the match review panel clearing Essendon's Brendon Goddard of contact against Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray.
