American boxer Deontay Wilder is demanding a heavyweight unification fight against Kiwi Joseph Parker following his latest successful title defence.
Wilder beat fellow-American Gerald Washington in a clash of two unbeaten fighters, notching a fifth-round stoppage in Alabama on Sunday (AEDT). It added a 38th win to his unbeaten professional record, and a 37th by knockout.
The WBC champion quickly turned his attention to WBO belt-holder Parker (22-0), who was in the audience.
In a post-fight television interview, the big-hitting fighter known as the Bronze Bomber called for the titles to be unified.
"I'm ready for Joseph Parker. The question is, is he ready for me?
"I've done my part Joseph Parker, now it's time to do yours."
The atmosphere appeared convivial later in 31-year-old Wilder's changing room, where he and Parker were photographed smiling together.
Parker, 25, snared his vacant title with a majority decision win over Mexican Andy Ruiz in Auckland in December.
His first defence will be against Briton Hughie Fury, with the date and venue still to be confirmed.
Parker's camp have previously expressed a desire to unify the various heavyweight divisions.
Briton Anthony Joshua is the IBF champion while the WBA title is currently vacant.
