In less than a fortnight, Queensland allrounder Jack Wildermuth has notched up career-best Sheffield Shield batting and bowling performances.
In Hobart on Wednesday, the 23-year-old right-hander made 110 to help the Bulls take a healthy 267-run lead into day three of their contest with Tasmania.
At Bellerive Oval, the visitors were dismissed for 437 in reply to the Tigers' lacklustre 150 first-innings' total, with the home side 0-20 at stumps in their second dig.
"It was nice to spend some time in the middle. The wicket started to flatten out nicely this afternoon - it was a good feeling," Wildermuth said after play.
The total surpasses his previous best of an unbeaten 100 and comes after a five-wicket haul when bowling against South Australia last Shield round.
"It's nice to have a bit of momentum going into that time of the year when playing for Shield finals spots so, for us as individuals, we're trying to win games for Queensland," Wildermuth said.
And what about hopes of taking his career to the next level and playing for Australia?
"The four-day fixtures, you're so involved. It's such a tough contest and you're really finding it hard to get those wins in Shield cricket and (I'm) just staying pretty put with that to be honest."
Wildermuth's latest ton will have frustrated Tasmania after an early fielding fumble.
Having come to the crease just before lunch and, without scoring a run, Wildermuth edged a delivery to second slip where Tassie's Beau Webster dropped the catch.
Wildermuth had support in building Queensland's first-innings' total, including a quick-fire 68 from 50 deliveries by No.8 Ben Cutting.
There were also half-centuries to Marnus Labuschagne (96) and skipper Joe Burns (61).
After dismissing Tasmania cheaply on day one, Queensland resumed batting on Wednesday at 2-131 and looked settled as the home side's bowlers tired.
After facing nine overs before stumps in their second innings, Tigers openers Alex Doolan and Jake Hancock are due to resume on Thursday unbeaten on eight and seven respectively.
