Several Queensland firefighting crews and park rangers are battling multiple wildfires near the Carnavon Gorge in the state's southwest.

The area north of Roma has been enduring severe hot weather over the past three days with the conditions expected to continue into next week.

The blazes are not posing any threat to property at this time but motorists are being urged to take care while travelling through the region and residents are warned to take precautions against smoke such as closing windows and doors.

Elsewhere, a large vegetation fire is burning in inaccessible country at Shoalwater Bay north of Rockhampton.

Australian Defence Force and Rural Fire Service are using aircraft to water bomb the blaze and advise ground crews of the situation.
