Injured Supercars driver Will Davison says he's done everything he can to prove his fitness for this weekend's meet at Phillip Island.
The Tekno Autosports driver injured his back, fracturing part of a vertebrae, in the multi-car pile-up that marred racing in Tasmania earlier this month.
The injuries and damage to his Commodore threw into doubt his participation on the Island.
But since leaving Launceston General Hospital, Davison has thrown himself into recovery.
The reigning Bathurst 1000 champion obtained medical clearance to drive and has undergone testing in a simulator on the Gold Coast this week in an effort to stand up to the rigours of a race.
He still needs to pass an on-track test on Friday to compete but Davison said he felt confident he'd be lining up on the grid at Phillip Island.
"I've done all I can since my crash to be fit for this weekend. I can't wait to get back in the car," he said on Twitter.
Davison's No.19 Holden has undergone a major rebuild in the 12 days between meets and is on track to reach the coastal circuit early on Thursday.
"It's been a monumental effort from everyone involved to put in some very big hours and get the car to the point where it is now," a Tekno spokesman told the Supercars website.
"We've got two truck drivers lined up on rotation to fast-track it down to Phillip Island so that we're ready to go for the weekend."
The Phillip Island meet has expanded this year, with 250km races on Saturday and Sunday.
