Australian Julian Wilson will have to wait before his tilt at a maiden surfing world title commences after organisers of the season ending Pipe Masters called a lay day on Saturday due to small conditions.
With four men vying for the championship, action will be intense in Hawaii with the competition expected to begin on Sunday.
"It is the second day of the window and we are calling competition off for the day," WSL Deputy Commissioner Renato Hickel said.
"It is only three-to-four foot here at Pipe and a declining swell with a forecast of onshore winds for this afternoon.
"But, we have good news because tomorrow there is an eight-to-twelve foot swell arriving on the island. We will come back tomorrow for the next call."

Defending champion John John Florence is the series leader with Brazilian Gabriel Medina and South Africa's Jordy Smith in hot pursuit of the Hawaiian.
Wilson needs the top three to be knocked out in the third round or earlier of the Pipe Masters to have any hope of claiming an unlikely victory, at an event he won in 2014.
He will surf against compatriot Stuart Kennedy and American Conner Coffin in round one.
