Wind gusts of up to 130km/h are expected to hit the Snowy Mountains as a cold front sweeps across NSW.
Damaging winds are forecast to hit the Riverina, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains from Monday afternoon, the weather bureau says.
Peak gusts of 120km/h are expected to hit the Alpine Peaks in the Snowy Mountains on Monday night before accelerating to 130km/h on Tuesday morning.
Damaging winds are also expected in Canberra, the Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central and Southern tablelands and Central West slopes and plains.
State Emergency Service spokeswoman Danielle Wearne said residents needed to move cars undercover and secure loose items.
