Windies bowlers fight back in Barbados

Pakistan lost three wickets just before stumps on day two of the second Test in Barbados to be 3-172, trailing the home side by 140 runs on the first innings.

West Indies took three quick wickets after tea to leave the second Test against Pakistan evenly balanced at stumps on day two in Barbados.

Pakistan stumbled from 0-155 to 3-172 at the close of play on Monday, still 140 runs behind.

Opener Azhar Ali was undefeated on 81 and captain Misbah-ul-Haq seven not out as the tourists scored slowly all day, including 66 runs off 30 overs in the final session at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

Pakistan dominated the first two sessions, quickly bowling out the West Indies in its first innings for 312 before lunch, and reaching 0-106 at tea.

But the West Indies hit back.

Ahmed Shehzad's charmed stay finally ended on 70 off 191 balls when he gently edged leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo to Shai Hope at slip.

Baba Azam lasted only two balls, caught and bowled by Shannon Gabriel for a duck.

Pakistan were soon 3-161 and the West Indies had the prized wicket of Younis Khan for a duck when a pull shot was held low by Gabriel at midwicket off Bishoo (2-53).

Captain Jason Holder grabbed no wickets but restricted the tourists with a figures of 0-8 off 10 overs.

Bad light ended play for the day with 69 overs bowled by the West Indies.

Earlier, Shehzad was saved twice by no-balls after lunch. First, the opener called for a review after being out leg before wicket in the 24th over but Gabriel overstepped in one of his eight no-balls.

Shortly before tea, Shehzad was stumped after carelessly straying from his crease but it was another no-ball, this time by Roston Chase.

Pakistan dismissed Holder (58) in the first over of the day, Chase (131) in the second over, and conceded only 26 runs after the Windies resumed from their overnight 6-286.

Pakistan, who won the first of three Tests, are chasing their first Test series victory in the Caribbean.
