Windies in control of 2nd Test v Sri Lanka

Dinesh Chandimal has scored an unbeaten century on day one of the second Test against the West Indies.

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal has hit an unbeaten century to provide the only resistance as the West Indies took early control of the second Test at Gros Islet.

Chandimal hit 119 not out but found little support as the tourists, trailing 1-0 in the series, were bowled out for 253 after winning the toss.

Shannon Gabriel took 5-59 and Kemar Roach 4-49 for the West Indies, who closed on two without loss in reply.

Sri Lanka's problems began early as Gabriel removed Mahela Udawatte in the second over and quickly followed up to remove Dhananjaya de Silva.

Chandimal steadied the innings in a 67-run partnership with Kusal Mendis but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Chandimal became more expansive after reaching his 11th Test century and had a reprieve when caught off a no-ball.

His runs came off 186 balls with 10 fours and a six.
