Wingard doubtful for AFL Power

Port Adelaide goalsneak Chad Wingard has suffered a delayed concussion from their loss to Geelong and is in doubt for Saturday night's match with Richmond.

A late-onset concussion could rule Port Adelaide sensation Chad Wingard out of Saturday's MCG date against fellow AFL strugglers Richmond.

Last weekend, the 22-year-old played out the entire game against Geelong despite wearing a huge hit in the third quarter.

Port Adelaide's fitness boss Darren Burgess said inspections on the night "showed no signs of concussion".

"We checked him again after the match as a precaution and he was showing signs of a delayed concussion," he told the club's website.

"His safety is obviously our priority. We'll review him again this week and if he hasn't improved we'll keep him out of round six."

Wingard missed the Power's round three-win over Essendon with a hamstring issue.

Both sides are set to miss key defenders due to indiscretions in the last round.

Jackson Trengove was handed a one-match ban for striking Geelong skipper Joel Selwood, while Tigers backman Alex Rance was served two matches for a cowardly hit to the back of Melbourne forward Jack Watts's head.
