Winterstein's signing will bolster the Panthers pack, which has been hit by the departures of Corey Harawira-Naera and Trent Merrin.

The 32-year-old will also be a handy replacement for left-edge back-rower Viliame Kikau, who will miss the first three rounds with a knee injury.
