A woman has been found alive after six days in a collapsed building, and rescuers are working to free her, a Kenyan official said.

Pius Masai, the head of the National Disaster Management Unit, said on Thursday rescuers are creating room to release the woman who is speaking to medics waiting to treat her.

He said the death toll from the disaster has risen to 33 and 80 people are missing.

A nearly six-month-old baby was rescued on Tuesday, raising hopes that more survivors would be found.

The infant was found unharmed in a washbasin after the seven-storey building collapsed.
