Woman dead after being left at WA hospital

Detectives are investigating after a woman who was left at the emergency room of a Perth hospital died.

A woman who died after being dumped at a Perth hospital is yet to be identified.

She was left at the emergency room of the Joondalup Health Campus hospital, in the city's north, about 3am on Wednesday and died soon after.

It is understood detectives have been scouring CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

Acting Commissioner Steve Brown told reporters police were making progress with their investigation and would soon ask the community to help identify a car of interest.

"It's a very disturbing incident," he said.

Act Comm Brown said the woman had several tattoos that could help police identify her.

In a bid to identify her, police have released images of three tattoos on the woman's left foot, right calf and right wrist.

The woman is believed to be aged in her early to mid-30s and is described as having a medium to large build, being of average height with medium length dark hair.

She was wearing jeans, wedge-heeled boots, a black T-shirt with a white motif on the front and a nose ring.

Along with the tattoos released by police, she also had dates for 2009 and 2011 tattooed on her legs and a 'Lion King' tattoo on a forearm.
