Woman dies days after 4WD crashes into dam

A Victorian mother has died in hospital 10 days after the 4WD she was travelling in crashed into a dam on her Healesville property.

The husband of a new mum who died in hospital after the family car plunged into a dam on the couple's Victorian property has paid tribute to his wife.

Kerry Arrow, 36, died on Tuesday more than a week after the 4WD veered off a dirt driveway in Healesville on November 26.

The married couple were reportedly on the way to hospital to see their ill newborn baby at the time.

Her husband Phil Budding, on Wednesday, described his wife as an "amazing person" who meant so much to so many.

"I'm dealing with this tragedy with the help of family and friends," Mr Budding told the Nine Network in a statement.

"On the one hand, I'm uplifted by the fact that I'll soon bring my son home from hospital. On the other, I find myself having to think about how I will one day explain to him that his mother is no longer with us."

Mr Budding escaped from the car unharmed and pulled his wife from the car.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

Police arrested the husband at the property but he was subsequently released without charge.

"Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision," a Victoria Police spokesman said late on Tuesday night.

Friend Dianne Axisa-Wynyard posted on Facebook that she was honoured to have known Ms Arrow.

"I cannot put into words how I feel but I will never forget you and I'm so grateful I got to tell that I valued you and loved," she wrote.

"Fly high now Kerry and watch over your baby boy. I miss you already."

Funeral arrangements are being made as Ms Arrow's family travels from Africa to Healesville.
