A woman found with horrific burns in bushland in Sydney's west a month ago has died.

Residents backing onto bushland at West Hoxton heard cries for help before police found Monika Chetty with severe burns on January 3.

Ms Chetty, 39, told police someone had thrown chemicals on her in Liverpool about a week earlier.

She was placed in the Concord Hospital burns unit but died on Friday.

Police released Ms Chetty's name and photograph after she was discovered, in the hope someone who knew her or how she sustained burns to 80 per cent of her body would come forward.

Police are still appealing for information.
