A 27-year-old woman has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder after stabbing a woman in a wheelchair at a shopping centre in NSW's south.

Police said an argument began when the victim, 42, got into a lift with the 27-year-old at the shopping centre in Bega on Saturday afternoon.

The younger woman then went to her car to get a weapon, found the older woman in a shop, began arguing with her again and stabbed her in the neck.

The victim was airlifted to hospital where she remains in a serious condition, while her alleged attacker has been refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court on Sunday.
