A woman who racially abused a teenage girl, calling her a "chink" in a drunken tirade across western Sydney, has been jailed for at least three months.

Nicole Boyle's menacing rants began not long after she and her then-boyfriend stumbled onto a nearly full train at Parramatta last July.

Witnesses told police they were unsteady on their feet and reeked of alcohol as Boyle launched into a feral spray against a 15-year-old girl, telling her she needed to go back to eating rice.

Boyle later boarded a bus where she made hateful remarks to people of African and Pacific Islander appearance.

Magistrate Alex Mijovich rejected claims by defence lawyers that the train rant wasn't racially motivated, saying she seemed to cover all nationalities in her comments.

He sentenced her to a maximum 12-months in jail during a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, ordering she serve at least three months.
