Woman shaken after naked home invasion

A shirtless man banged on the home of a Sydney mother before entering the house with a gun only to emerge completely naked not long afterwards.

A woman forced from her Sydney home by a semi-naked, gun-toting stranger has been left shaken and fearful, her daughter says.

Cecilia Kim was working on Tuesday night when she received a frantic call from her mother, who was at their Luddenham home.

She said her mother heard two or three gunshots and cries for help from outside.

"She walked outside and went around the garage to see who was there," Ms Kim told AAP.

"There was a guy wearing short shorts and nothing else, banging.

"She felt like he was going to bang down everything, he was desperately trying to get into the house."

Ms Kim's mother locked up her house and fled, seeking help from neighbours.

Not long after the man was seen walking around the second level of their Ventana Court home.

When he later emerged outside, where dozens of police were waiting, he was completely naked.

Police found a pair of shorts at the backdoor of the house and a Glock pistol.

After forensic officers spent the night combing their home, Ms Kim and her mother were allowed back inside on Wednesday morning only to find it "a mess".

"He just moved some stuff around, furniture, broke some stuff ... he has touched our beds," she said.

"He even went through our trash in my bedroom."

Her 54-year-old mother has been left shaken.

"She is really paranoid now. What if they come back and what if it happens again?" Ms Kim said.

The man, who was hospitalised, told police he was being chased and ended up at the Kim household trying to get help.

However, police are waiting to speak to the man further.

It is understood the 38-year-old man, who had leg injuries from running through bushes, lives in a nearby street.

Police will now look at whether the shots residents heard came from the man's Glock pistol or if someone else was involved.

Detectives will also look at the man's history, including whether he is linked to any bikie clubs.
