A teenage mother has rescued her eight-month-old daughter from a woman who snatched her from her pram in Sydney's west.

The 19-year-old mum was pushing the pram along High Street in Penrith on Friday morning when she stopped to grab a bottle from a bag.

Police say a woman in her 30s picked the baby up from the pram after removing the harness but the mother managed to grab her child back.
