Woman taking selfie damages Dali artwork

A Salvador Dali drawing at a Russian art gallery has been damaged after a young woman knocked it over while trying to take a selfie with it.

A young woman taking a selfie has damaged a drawing by prominent Spanish artist Salvador Dali at a gallery in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, according to state media.

The drawing, from the Los Caprichos series, was knocked over by the woman while she was trying to take a photo of herself with the artwork in the background, a police spokesperson was cited as saying.

The frame of another work by renowned Spanish artist Francisco Goya was also damaged in the incident, state news agency RIA Novosti reported on Friday.

The woman and three of her friends were "behaving not very appropriately," a representative of the Glavny Prospect (Main Street) gallery said in comments carried by state news agency TASS.

Authorities decided not to press charges because the incident lacked criminal intent, state media reported.
