A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a Victorian home by family members.

A man has been charged with murder and remanded in custody after a woman was found dead in a Victorian house by family members.

The man, 31, was charged on Friday following the death of a 44-year-old woman whose body was discovered in Port Fairy on Wednesday.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday.
