A member of the public has found the body of a woman on a fire trail in Sydney's northern suburb of Hornsby.

A woman's body has been found in bushland in Sydney's upper north shore.

A member of the public stumbled across the body on a fire trail on Saturday afternoon in Hornsby, about 800 metres from Rosemead Road.

The woman has not been formally identified and cause of death is yet to be determined. Police say it's unknown whether her death is suspicious.
