Women 'could hold key to Mideast peace talks'

Israeli politician Ruth Calderon says women could hold the key to negotiating peace in the Middle East. She's part of the relatively new Yesh Atid Party, which controversially won so many seats in March this year.

Israelis and Palestinians have begun their first direct peace talks in three years , in a new push to end decades of conflict.

The talks were described long and serious but no detail was given on just what what was discussed.

One Israeli politician says women could hold the key to negotiating peace in the Middle East.

Israeli Knesset member Dr Ruth Calderon lived in Canberra as a teenager.

She's part of the relatively new Yesh Atid Party, which controversially won so many seats in March this year.
