Wonder Woman, the famous Amazonian fighting heroine from DC Comics, has been given a modern 'make over'.
Rather than the trademark star-spangled hot pants, sexy high-heeled boots and red corset worn by the 69-year-old icon, her modern counterpart will don black leggings and sensible boots.
New DC Comics writer J. Michael Straczynski, who devised the look, told the New York Times that he wanted to "toughen her up and give her a modern sensibility".

"I wanted her to look strong and tough but still quite beautiful," he said. "Let's give her clothes that she can fight in, that add to her presence and her strength and her power."
But the change has caused some controversy among fans on the internet, with many bloggers decrying the new look, claiming Wonder Woman has been 'ruined'.
The new look has appeared in issue 600 of the famous comic, which hit US stores yesterday.
