A whole-genome testing centre that opened in Sydney on Wednesday will enable those suffering from rare or genetic conditions to have a single test to get a diagnosis.
People suspected of having a genetic condition can have all 20,000 genes that make up the whole human genome screened at the centre, based at Sydney's Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
It's estimated the service will increase the diagnosis rate of often rare genetic conditions from around 20 per cent to as much as 60 per cent.
