Bryan Adams and Andrea Bocelli kicked off World Cup farewells with a concert in Johannesburg.

The pair sang "Yesterday" by the Beatles and Adams performed his most popular hit, "Everything I Do."

Andrea Bocelli sang with African soprano Pretty Yende and backed by Johannesburg's festival orchestra and Gauteng choristers.

The concert was opened by the Mzansi Youth Choir

Organisers hope the event raises awareness about the risk of malaria.

One of the biggest cheers occurred when Bocelli walked out for an encore and in his hand was a vuvuzela, which caused the otherwise subdued crowd to cheer wildly for a few moments.

However the biggest cheers were saved for Bocelli's performance of "Nessun Dorma," from the famous Turandot opera.

The World Cup ends on Sunday, after the final between Spain and the Netherlands.
