World Food Day: Crisis in Somalia

World Food Programme senior spokesperson Challiss McDonough talks to SBS about the food crisis in East Africa, particularly Somalia.

Four million people in Somalia are in crisis.

World Food Programme senior spokeswoman for East, Central & Southern Africa Challiss McDonough says 750,000 are facing famine in the country's south where aid work is limited because of the dangerous security situation.

Ms McDonough spoke to SBS from Kenya, before heading to Mogadishu on the eve of World Food Day.

World Food Day is held annually on October 16.
