Wozniacki withdraws from French Open

An injured right ankle has forced former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki to pull out of the French Open.

Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki has pulled out of the French Open because of an injured right ankle, the WTA says.

The 34th-ranked Wozniacki hasn't played since she lost her second match at the Miami Open in March.

Her participation at Roland Garros was already in doubt after she withdrew from clay-court tournaments in Madrid and Rome because of the injury she suffered during practice.

The draw for the French Open is on Friday. Play begins on Sunday.
