Tyler Wright has set up a show-stopping women's Rip Curl Pro quarter-final against fellow Australian Stephanie Gilmore.

Wright dominated her round-four encounter on Tuesday against South African Bianca Buitendag 17.63 points to 10.90, including a best wave of 9.13.

"I feel like Bells really suits my surfing," said the 21-year-old Wright, the runner-up at Bells Beach in each of the past two years.

"Sometimes I almost get too excited when the face opens up.

"I have so many ideas of how I want to play with this one turn and it's just a dream to be out there.

"The results don't really come into my head.

"I just want to win heats so I can surf out there in uncrowded Bells over and over."

Wright's victory set up a boom quarter-final on Wednesday against Gilmore, the six-time world champion.

The other round-four winners on Tuesday were American duo Lakey Peterson and Courtney Conlogue and France's Johanne Defay.

Peterson beat 2009 Bells champion Silvana Lima from Brazil, advancing to a quarter-final against Australian Sally Fitzgibbons.

Defay, the only European surfer on the women's World Surf League tour in 2015, will square off against 2013 and 2014 Bells champion Carissa Moore from Hawaii in the last eight.
