XXXX brewery workers call seventh strike

XXXX workers are continuing their industrial action against parent company Lion, with a seventh strike called.

Staff at iconic Queensland brewery XXXX have called their seventh strike in as many weeks.

The workers have been unable to come to an agreement with the brewery's parent company, Lion, over pay and contract labour hire.

They will strike again on Wednesday afternoon, with their proposed industrial action also set to take in a protest outside Suncorp Stadium for the third State of Origin game in July.

Lion on Tuesday reiterated its position that moves to employ contractors to cover for full-time employees on leave and create a more flexible workforce was necessary.

"This is about supplementing our permanent workforce, not replacing it," brewery director Irene Bell said.
