Soon after SBS Dateline's Yalda Hakim arrived in Afghanistan last month to check progress in peace talks, the chief peace negotiator was assassinated.
When Dateline's Yalda Hakim travelled to Afghanistan last month, her plan was to find out where peace negotiations with the Taliban stood on the 10th anniversary of the war.
But as she headed to her hotel, located behind the house of chief negotiator and former president Burhanuddin Rabbani, he was assassinated.
A suicide bomber with apparent links to the Taliban, or at least its allies, had changed everything -- and not just the peace negotiations.
Ron Sutton talked with Yalda Hakim and asked what she found in their place.
