Yazza, because it's a "good Aussie name". Yogi, because it's "short to say". And Yap, because "it's cute", of course.
Yoko, Yoda, Yasha, Yin, Yule, Yoshi and Yoyo rounded out the dozen names given to NSW Police's newest canine recruits, as chosen by young patients at Westmead Children's Hospital.

The children picked the names from a list of 5,000 after police put out a call on Facebook for suggestions beginning with 'Y'.
The 10-week-old Belgian Malinois was born in February and are the first litter of their kind born into the force.
"These kids are going through something really tough and this is just a little bit of joy we can help bring them to put a smile on their faces," dog unit patron Andrea Fuller said on Friday.
The puppies will be fostered out to specialised carers and will soon begin training to become either general purpose or detection police dogs.
The NSW Police dog unit's breeding program has been running since 2004, with litters of German Shepherd pups, Labradors, and English Springer Spaniels.
